FILIPINO CULTURAL PRESERVATION PROJECT

In 2008 the Filipino Community Center was awarded a one-year grant by the Institute of Museum and Library Services, a Federal agency, to conduct activities to preserve and perpetuate Filipino culture. In partnership with eFIL and the UHM Office of Multicultural Student Services, the Filipino Cultural Preservation Project (FCPP) has three major components:

Newspaper Digitization Project

Preservation of Traditional Art & Culture Project

Cultural Enrichment Programs

The Bishop Museum (Honolulu, Hawaii) served as the fiscal administrator for this grant.

The Institute of Museum and Library Services is the primary source of federal support for the nation’s 122,000 libraries and 17,500 museums. The Institute's mission is to create strong libraries and museums that connect people to information and ideas.
